Wrangler // Guide School May/June 2013 East Glacier Park and St. Mary, Mt.
Equine Management Services will offer a Wrangler School in the spring of 2012 at East Glacier Park, Mt. Working from the base of Glacier Gateway Outfitters. The combined staff of Equine Management Services Inc./Miller Land & Livestock Co llc, Glacier Gateway Outfitters llc. offers over 200 years of combine experience in the horses, outfitting, rodeo and ranching business. Our instructors are qualified through years of hands on working, management, ownership of equine business, outfitting business and ranching experience. Having managed, owned or owning outfitting business and ranches in Montana, Colorado, Arizona, Wisconsin. Outfitting tens of thousands of people in to the back country for outdoor recreation and hunting over the last 50 years. The school is based on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation adjacent to Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. Some of the most picturesque and remote areas in the lower forty-eight states.
The basic curriculum is: Introduction

Horse & Mule Behavior Packing – Knots and Hitches Horse and personal Safety in the field and around the base camp. Harnessing, Hooking and Driving a single and double teams.
Wilderness First Aid and CPR (Certification)
Wilderness Survival
Safety and Prevention Riding, Camping, Hiking in Grizzly/Brown Bear, Mountain Loin, Wolf country, Behavior of those animals.
Outdoor Recreation
Hiking and Backpacking on Indian Reservations, State, BLM, National Forest and National Parks Outdoor Photography How to have your clients take pictures off and on the horse or mule, how to pose your client for the best photo shoot. Fire Arm Safety (Certification)
Outdoor and Camp Cooking / Dutch Oven Cooking
Cooking on Camp Fires

One Hundred Forty Hours of Hands on Instruction over 14 days. When the course is completed and you have at least 70% passing score, you will be certified as a Back Country Wrangler/Guide, Wilderness First Aid, CPR, Fire Arm Safety, Saddle Fitter.
Cost of the school for 14 days is $4200.00 payable with Non-refundable deposits of: $500 down at time of booking, January 15 - $500.00, April 15 - $700.00 total deposit of $1700. Balance due May 1 - $2500.00 Deposits made be made with cash, wire transfer or certified funds in check or money order. Balance may be paid the same on May 1st. Additional Charges for Room and Board. Arrangements for have been made with local vendors in the area that are within walking distance of the schools base of operations. Food cost for three meals a day is average $35.00, room cost run from $59.00 (Sears Motel/RV/Campground a night for double or single room up to $159.00 a night at Glacier Park Lodge (rooms can be shared with another student). Meals will be provided during the cooking portion. In other words, you will be eating your own cooking on those days. Additional cost for room and board can range from $900 to $2000 for the fourteen days plus the tuition. List of vendors will be provided when first deposit is sent. There is parking and tent camping in the area. You must be aware that there are Mountain Lion, Grizzly and Black Bear, Moose, Elk in the area if you are tent camping or staying in an RV or Camper.
