About Horse:
At auction on Thehorsebay.com until 11-18-25Strawberry is a 5-year-old, DNA-d, registered (MFTPR) Missouri Foxtrotting gelding. He is a stunning red roan with a lot of chrome! Strawberry was born, raised, and started right here on our farm in Marshfield, Missouri. He is a grandson of Southern Sunrise and a son of Southern Sunrise’s Hotshot (see photo).
Strawberry was first ridden by my dad, Larry Stevens, when he was 79. Knowing his calm disposition since he was born, and knowing his sire, grandsire, dam, etc., I was sure with his gentle soul that it was safe to “throw my leg” on him for his first ride.
With extensive trail-riding experience, Strawberry has explored beautiful locations such as Eminence, MO; Brushy Creek in Black, MO; Busiek State Park in Branson, MO; historic Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield in Republic, MO; Smittle Cave territory; and Compton Hollow Conservation land, to name a few. Strawberry thrives in diverse environments, from busy towns to serene trails in the Ozark mountains.
While on the trail, you can drop the reins on Strawberry, and he will hold a nice, slow, steady walk in which you can ride with non-gaited horses. He will also consistently walk faster if you cue him to do so (just by lightly squeezing your legs once). He has a lovely, even foxtrot and a lope (canter) that is a dream to ride! Strawberry neck reins, side passes both directions, and has a nice, steady back-up.
Strawberry is easy to mount and dismount, side-passing to whatever you ask him to, and stands perfectly still, patiently waiting for your cue to move forward or back. He loads quickly and easily in any horse trailer and backs out when asked. He loves his bath. He is very easy to catch! He loves babies, dogs, cats, and people, to name a few of his favorite things! (Oh! And apples and other horse friends! He has always been around other horses and gets along well with them.
Strawberry has a lot of chrome along with an unusual strawberry-shaped heart on the outer side of his front left leg (see photo).
Strawberry will be an eye-catcher on the trail with his beautiful color and conformation, his gentle, friendly demeanor, and just his all-around appearance! If you’re looking for a reliable trail horse or a companion for your family, please come to Marshfield, MO, and try Strawberry out while he is listed on thehorsebay.com. We look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you may have about Strawberry.
