Badgers Got A Gun aka “Newt”. Newt is a 5-year-old red dun Quarter Horse gelding with quite the resume! He’s a fancy broke gelding with months of professional training in cattle work, roping, western dressage, and more. Newt is well-versed on the ranch. You can rope and doctor off him with ease. He’s had formal training on cutting cattle and buffalo, has tracked the roping dummy, and has been heeled off of. Newt is a highly trained horse. You can move every part of his body with leg cues. He’ll spin 360s, lope slow, collected circles, and does it all with a soft, supple feel. He’s been extensively desensitized to tarps, flags, stuffed animals, farm equipment, and all kinds of ranch commotion. On top of all that, Newt is a great all-around family horse. My sons, ages 11 and 14, have ridden him doing everything from clearing pastures to trail riding—even straight through Main Street in our hometown (population 22,000). Newt will also proudly carry the flag in a grand entry. He’s a fun gelding with a personable attitude and will meet you in the pasture looking for attention. Watch his video! It tells the story!
